5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic All-in-one for me, October 31, 2011

I replaced a canon s900 that was acting up. I decided to stay with Canon and I wanted a wireless photo printer. I thought it would be nice to have the copy and scan features too. Well, I couldn't be happier with my choice. Although I had to apply a firmware and software upgrades right away, I am happy that I can print from all my devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook pro, Mac mini) wirelessly. The only problem I have is that after a while of non-use the printer will disappear from my network (I don't think this is a printer problem). I just go into one of my devices (like my iPhone) and turn Wifi off and then on again... and the printer will show up. I like the touch feature and all the menus are fairly easy to understand. The two paper trays make it easy to switch between plain paper and photo printing. I'm not bothered by noise or warm-up time... some might be. It's a fairly large machine... but I was able to replace my older printer and my scanner - saving room. I haven't had... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Prints great X-rays, October 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Canon PIXMA MG8220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One Scanner (5293B002) (Office Product)
We bought this printer to make hard copies of dental X-rays. It replaced a $1,000+ Xerox printer. The staff is very happy with it, they say the print quality is much better than the old Xerox, but it does take about 90 seconds to print a full page glossy X-ray at maximum quality. The old Xerox would take about 10 seconds to print the same image.

If high photo quality and fast business printing are a must I would look elsewhere, but if you can wait 60 to 90 seconds for a full page highest quality photo print - it is a great printer and well perfectly in our office.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
Installation went smoothly after I figured out that at one point I needed to turn the printer off & back on again. I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit.

PROS (of the features I've tried)
-The Intelligent Touch System provides light-guided direction...only the buttons you need light up; the controls are sensitive to touch & very easy to use.
-Scans slides & film; the color & clarity of the photo I printed from a 32 year old 35mm slide are excellent.
-Several varieties of memory cards are supported.
-Using the Duplex feature saves paper, but printing two or more pages on one side of the paper involves more steps than Pixma 6120 . To print 2-16 pages on one side of your paper, choose 'Properties', then 'Duplex' in 'Quick Setup', click the 'Page Setup' tab to choose your print options, then 'Page Layout' to choose to print up to 16 pages on one side of the paper, you can also choose booklet and there are a couple other choices too.
-Exterior won't show... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Printer!, March 7, 2011
This review is from: Canon Pixma MX882 Wireless Office All-in-One Inkjet Printer (4894B002) (Office Product)
I waited about a month and 1/2 for this printer to become available after its release earlier this year. I purchased the printer at Staples for 199.00, but returned my 'old' one and received a 50.00 rebate, so my net cost was 149.00 for this product. I found the 3" LCD very easy to read and also very user friendly, as it takes you step by step while installing the printer to your network for the first time. It took about 30 minutes from out of the box, to fully function properly. I was torn between purchasing a laser vs an ink jet, but determined my needs were better suited for an inkjet and I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of the pictures I created via the printer. The colors were amazing! I will upload a sample shortly. I found the wireless connection which allows me to print wirelessly without having to connect using a cable from the computer was awesome, as my wife usually works on her laptop, and this is great feature! The Canon MX882 operates with five ink cartridges;... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very nice... with one exception, March 9, 2011

This review is from: Canon Pixma MX882 Wireless Office All-in-One Inkjet Printer (4894B002) (Office Product)
I recently replaced my old Pixma ip4000 with this new MX882. Set up was straight forward and without a glitch. The machine is nice to look at and prints very high quality photos and documents with great speed. The display makes it easy for those who are "technology challenged" to scan, copy, or fax without difficulty.

The wireless printing setup was fast and flawless.

My only reservations about this machine are:

1. The shiny black plastic body is a major dust collector and difficult to keep clean.
2. You can use EITHER the Ethernet connection OR the wireless connection, but not both. This is disappointing and requires you to toggle the printer between modes.

All in all I am very happy with this Canon multifunction machine. It is far superior to all the troublesome HP multi-functions that I've had in the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars So worth the wait!, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Canon Pixma MX882 Wireless Office All-in-One Inkjet Printer (4894B002) (Office Product)
We owned a Canon IP6000 a few years ago and decided to buy an Epson Artisan 800 because of it's multi tasking capabilities. That was a total mistake! I have had 4 printers in the last 2 years, under warranty, that Epson had to send me because the features kept going out on it!

I bought this printer at Staples yesterday and I am very pleased with it so far. The text quality is better than Epson's and the photos are spectacular, just like the Canon that we used to own. The photos turn out just like you had them developed at the store. I waited for a month and a half for this printer to come out and I am not disappointed that I waited. Well worth the investment and I will be sticking with Canon!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
Customer Video Review Length:: 1:35 Mins

I own an older model PIXMA iP3000 that I've been very impressed with and the MG5220 doesn't change my opinion. If anything, I am even more impressed with its design, features and performance. Out of the box it is attractively styled and has a compact footprint. Installing the software and setting up a wireless connection on my home network was a snap with both my iMac and Windows 7 laptop. The controls are intuitive and the adjustable color LCD display is gorgeous. I've yet to explore all of it's features, but without cracking open the manual I was able to photocopy, scan, print documents and print photos on photo paper. There is a brief warm-up period when turning the printer on or waking from power saving mode, but otherwise printing, copying and scanning are brisk, if not super-fast.

Copy, print... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Printer I've Ever Owned, August 26, 2010

This review is from: Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One (4502B017) (Office Product)
This printer is great, I did a lot of research and decided to try it. I have never owned a better printer. It connected to my home WiFi and every device in my house (including my iPhone and my wife's iPad) can print to it. Pages print at blazing speed, and I can load both photo paper and regular paper at the same time and it automatically selects the correct media. Photos are gorgeous and text is super black and crisp. Push a button on the printer and it makes a copy or sends a file to my PC. I tried printing from my camera's memory card and that was super easy, the color LCD leaves no doubt about which photo is printing. It is beautiful to look at, although I'm sure it will need a lot of dusting (it is glossy black).

I bought this printer because my one-year old HP quit printing photos after I upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I decided to give Canon a try. I will never buy another HP again. I liked their print quality, but they "abandon" you with driver support way too... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Maybe not what you are looking for, May 10, 2011
By
readersf (San Francisco, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One (4502B017) (Office Product)
I am writing this review for those who, like me, needed a copier scanner but are not able to spend 5 months researching it. If you are an expert, please pass by; but if you are part of the general buying public, learn from my mistakes, if you can.

The machine promises nice features. It wasn't that easy to set up, but it could be done without too much trouble.

Why the complaints?
1. It is slow and cranky. It powers down between jobs. If you wish to print two photographs within ten seconds of each other, that is no problem. But if you copy a piece of paper and come back to make another copy 5 minutes later, be warned: it will take up 8 minutes to warm itself up again. Not such a good idea when someone is standing there waiting for his original.

2. The ink. Oh,the ink. So of course I had to buy a black cartridge and then a set of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges. Since I have yet to print a color picture, I have never used any save... Read more
